Very Surely, Man is Wise

The scientific term for human is homo sapien, Latin for “wise man”. But often times, we are not truly wise; we are too smart for our own good. Our technological advancements have only hindered us in societal and intellectual development, and our ego has ensured that we would never amount from this.

There is a story based on a true event. A man once behaved as though existence revolved around him. Upon moving into a new house, he saw the occasional breathtaking abundance of stray animals that would visit the lush and chromatic landscape of his backyard. As though he did not like the presence of the animals, he cut substantial amounts of the greenery, bamboo, trees, bushes, and flowers in the area. What remained was a barren brick wall and far less shade. Less animals were present as well. Occasionally these days, a few cats would come by, but now the usual blue jay never comes back. Has the man depreciated what the previous owners had done to bring life into civilization? The man proceeded to put a garden into the dirt clearing to grow edibles everyday. Every time there was tangible output, he would gather and enter his house with great pride over a scarcity of food wrought from seeds. But the stray explorers who had lost their home were no more in diverse amounts; only three cats would sometimes visit.

The boy tried to stop his father, but was ignored; his father managed to ward off his perception of nonsense. The boy has seen the gradual obstruction of an environment. He know how environmentalists such as Jane Goodall feel about human actions on ignorance and apathy.
